The story
Krushuna Waterfalls are one of Bulgaria's most distinctive natural attractions and are known for their extensive travertine cascade system. The waterfalls are formed by mineral-rich water flowing over light-coloured travertine rock, creating a series of terraces, pools and smaller cascades surrounded by dense vegetation. A marked eco-trail follows the waterfall system and allows visitors to see the cascades from several viewpoints. Along the route there are numerous small bridges and stair sections leading through the forest and toward observation areas around the main waterfall. The central waterfall drops approximately 20 metres before splitting into several branches and continuing through a sequence of smaller cascades.

Local tip
Take your time along the full eco-trail instead of stopping only at the first waterfall viewpoint. The smaller cascades, bridges and forest sections reveal a very different side of the site.
