The story
Devil's Bridge spans the Arda River near Ardino in the Eastern Rhodopes and is one of the region's most distinctive historic landmarks. Construction was completed in the early 16th century. The massive stone bridge is 56 metres long and has three main arches, with the central arch rising approximately 11.5 metres above the river. Surrounded by steep wooded slopes, the bridge combines remarkable historic engineering with a dramatic natural setting. It is officially recognized as an architectural and construction cultural property of national significance and lies within a protected natural area and the Natura 2000 network.

Local tip
Look at the bridge from different positions along the riverbank. Its arches and reflection in the Arda create some of the most distinctive views of the site, especially when the water is calm.
